EX-SERVICEMEN RALLY ORGANISED BY ARMY IN LEH

A large number of Veterans, Veer Naris and their dependents belonging to the LADAKH SCOUTS Regiment took part in an Ex-Servicemen Rally conducted by the LADAKH SCOUTS Regimental Centre at Leh today. Organised under the aegis of Fire & Fury Corps, this rally was part of the outreach initiative undertaken by the formation for the welfare of Veterans, Veer Naris and their dependents, in the year which has been designated by the Indian Army as the 'Year of NOK'. It was an unique occasion which witnessed the congregation of an array of War Veterans ranging from 1948, 1962, 1971 Wars and Operation VIJAY (1999), besides veteran mountaineers including Everest climbers and sportsmen of various winter sports.

Lieutenant General YK Joshi, General Officer Commanding, Fire & Fury Corps interacted with the attendees and also felicitated the Veer Naris, Widows and Ex-Servicemen who attended the Rally. Speaking on the occasion, he assured all Veterans and Veer Naris of unstinting support of the organisation towards their welfare and improvement in the quality of life through proactive involvement in problem resolution. Lieutenant General YK Joshi was accompanied by senior Army officers and civil administration officials.

In addition to medical and dental check up facility for the Veer Naris, Veterans and Next of Kins, important information pertaining to Ex-Servicemen welfare, various other welfare schemes from Central/ State government, various investment schemes and possible loan proposals towards house building, business establishment and vehicle purchases were provided to them. Representatives from the DPDO (Defence Pension Disbursing Office) were also present, to resolve pension related anomalies.

President Ex-Servicemen League, Leh gave a Vote of Thanks at the end of the event where solidarity of the Indian Army with Veterans, Veer Naris and Widows was highlighted.
