Baramulla Police solves murder case, accused arrested



January 25: On 24/01/2020 at about 2100hrs Baramulla Police received an information that one person namely Syed Mohammad aged about 23 years resident of Uroosa has been brought to Sub District hospital Uri from Reshwari Bijhama in an unconscious state, however doctors declared him brought dead.

Accordingly proceedings u/s 174 CrPC were initiated in Police Station Bijhama.

Preliminary medical report suggested that the person had died due to poisoning.

Proceedings in the case revealed that the victim was in a relationship with a girl from Jabadar area of Bijhama, however their families disapproved of the relationship and were not allowing them to move ahead in their relationship.

On 24th of Jan 2020, the victim Syed Mohammad approached the family members of the girl in order to have a conversation and make efforts to persuade them and seek their approval for the relationship.

At the girl’s house in Jabadar area victim Syed Mohammad was served with a cup of tea spiked with poisonous substance.

Police taking assistance of modern scientific aids of investigation were able to identify two individuals Shahida Bano and Hilal Malik both residents of Jabadar who were involved in the commission of crime. They happen to be real siblings of the girl with whom the victim was in relationship.

Police have recovered the cup in which the contaminated tea was served and the remaining poisonous substance as part of evidence. Case FIR No. 02/2020 u/s 302 IPC has been registered in the matter at PS Bijhama.

Both the accused persons have been arrested. Further investigation in the matter is in progress.
